Miss Connection
A fun, practical and interactive assembly for 7 – 11 year olds (KS2) that links science, technology, local environment and community issues.
Watch Irene’s short video for a taste
Dirty water from washer and showers can make our rivers howl
As chemicals from cleaning fluids kill many fish and fowl.
Pipes packed with oils and fat can no longer drain,
Which contributes to flooding after heavy rain.
Miss Connection’s here to show you a better way
To stop pollution from your home, the future’s remedy.
Using a specially designed model, Miss Connection will demonstrate how everyday practices and water appliances in the home can poison and pollute the environment, especially our rivers and streams. Using props, participation and Power-Point, she will show how this can be easily avoided. Stickers and leaflets for parents will be available for children to take home.
FoBB has commissioned author, actor and storyteller Irene Lofthouse to design and deliver this cross-curricular assembly to Year 6 – adults of the future – to raise awareness of how domestic practices can impact on our environment, our health, our homes and our lives. This assembly links with STEM subjects as well as literacy and critical thinking.
30 minutes minimum, plus set up time.
